Ingredients:
For the Filling:
2 cans tuna in water (5 oz each), drained
1 cup frozen peas (thawed)
1 small red onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup grated cheddar cheese
¼ cup cream cheese, softened
¼ cup sour cream
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried parsley)
Salt & black pepper, to taste
For the Pastry:
1 package puff pastry sheets (usually comes with 2 sheets), thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tsp sesame seeds or nigella seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Prepare the Tuna Filling:
In a large bowl, combine drained tuna, thawed peas, chopped onion, minced garlic, and cheddar cheese.
Add the cream cheese, sour cream, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and parsley. Mix everything together until creamy and well combined.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside while preparing the pastry.
Preheat & Prep:
4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Assemble the Pie:
6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one sheet of puff pastry to fit your baking sheet or desired pie size (if making in a pie dish).
7. Place the pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon the tuna mixture onto the center of the pastry, leaving about 1 inch around the edges.
8. Place the second puff pastry sheet on top. Press the edges with a fork to seal and create a rustic pie look.
9. Brush the top with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame or nigella seeds if using.
10. Using a sharp knife, cut 3–4 small slits in the top to allow steam to escape during baking.
Bake the Pie:
11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
12. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
Serve & Enjoy:
13. Slice into squares or wedges and serve warm with a crisp green salad or roasted veggies.
14. This pie also tastes delicious at room temperature — perfect for picnics or lunchboxes!
