🍽️ Servings: 4
Ingredients:
For the Lo Mein:
12 oz (340g) lo mein noodles (or spaghetti as substitute)
1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
3 cups broccoli florets
1 red bell pepper, sliced (optional for color)
3 green onions, chopped
2 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil for more flavor)
For the Marinade:
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil
For the Sauce:
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
2 tbsp water
Instructions:
1. Marinate the beef:
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Toss in sliced beef and let it marinate for at least 10 minutes while you prep other ingredients.
2. Cook the noodles:
Boil noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain, toss lightly with oil, and set aside.
3. Stir-fry the beef:
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef and stir-fry until just cooked through, about 3–4 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
4. Cook vegetables:
In the same pan, add another tbsp of oil. Toss in broccoli and red bell pepper, cooking until tender-crisp (about 3–4 minutes). Add garlic and ginger, stir-frying for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Combine everything:
Add cooked noodles, beef, and sauce mixture to the pan. Toss well until everything is coated in the savory sauce. Cook for 2 more minutes, letting the flavors soak in.
6. Garnish & serve:
Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade takeout!
Tips & Variations:
✅ Swap beef for chicken, shrimp, or tofu.
✅ Add mushrooms, snow peas, or carrots for extra veggies.
✅ Make it spicy by adding sriracha or extra red pepper flakes.
✅ Double the sauce if you like it extra saucy.
