⏱️ Prep Time: 20 minutes | Cook Time: 50 minutes
🍽️ Servings–1: 80
Ingredients:
6–8 buttery croissants (preferably day-old, cut into halves or thirds)
1 ½ cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate bars)
4 large eggs
2 cups whole milk (or half-and-half for extra creaminess)
1 cup heavy cream
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
A pinch of salt
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Fresh berries or whipped cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the baking dish:
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
2. Layer the croissants:
Arrange croissant halves in the dish, scattering chocolate chips between layers to ensure every bite is loaded with chocolatey goodness.
3. Make the custard mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth and well combined.
4. Soak the croissants:
Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants, pressing them gently so they absorb the liquid. Let sit for at least 15–20 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for a make-ahead option.
5. Bake to perfection:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake another 20–25 minutes, until puffed, golden, and set in the center.
6. Garnish & serve:
Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with fresh berries, whipped cream, or even a drizzle of chocolate sauce for extra indulgence.
Tips & Variations:
✅ Use mini croissants for a more bite-sized texture.
✅ Add a handful of chopped hazelnuts or almonds for a Nutella-inspired twist.
