Ingredients:

For the Filling:

12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained

1 lb Italian sausage (mild or hot, casing removed)

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup cottage cheese (for extra creaminess)

1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried Italian seasoning

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

For the Sauce:

2 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce or homemade tomato sauce

½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)

Salt and pepper to taste

For Topping:

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions:

Cook the Sausage:

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Prepare the Sauce:
3. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until soft.
